First of all, I have decided to change my inquiry question. Instead of doing my annotated bibliography on the health risks associated with smoking tobacco, I have decided to do organic vs. non-organic foods. I believe my most interesting source is 'Recent growth patterns in the U.S. organic foods market' by Caroline Dimitri and Catherine Green. This source is a document. I think that this source is interesting because it shows how organic foods are "one of the fastest growing segments of U.S. agriculture". This source describes how the organic food industry continues to grow more and more. As organic foods are at a higher demand, everyone is starting to specialize in growing, processing, and marketing these organic products. This source shows and describes the growth patterns in the U. S. organic sector in recent years. It also talks about ongoing programs on organic farming, processing, and marketing in the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Overall, this source shows how much this now popular industry has grown overtime and summarizes the growth patterns. So far the only challenge that I've faced is trying to summarize these sources, but I think that it will become easier as I do more. Advice for my fellow peers is to not wait last minute to get everything together, this is definitely going to take some time.
I think this topic will be more interesting than your first one, just because it seems like common knowledge that people shouldn't smoke. I think the source you explained above gives you the background knowledge you need to get even deeper. I'm really interested to see what you find out. Organic foods are more expensive - are they worth the money?
ReplyDeleteI guess part of our assignment this week is to reply to someones blog, so I'm doing yours. Well, I like what you have chosen for a topic. It would be interesting to hear different things that you may have learned. Like something that may really stand out. It seems to me that the overall product of the annotated bib will be way to confusing for me. Having to look at other peoples studies and ideas, to then try and form your own opinions.
ReplyDeleteI think that you have chosen a good topic. One thing that might be difficult for you would finding different view points on organic foods. I do not know much about the topic but it seems that every time I hear about organic foods it's always something good, not a whole lot of debate going on about is it better. Hopefully I and wrong and it will not prove to be difficult for you. It would be interesting to learn about how organic foods are "processed" and how the processing differs from non-organic foods.
